Sign in, sign out, and light or dark
How to sign in and out, what to do if you forget your password, and how to switch between the light and dark look.
- Open TutorCat.
- Under I'm signing in as, make sure Student is picked.
- Type your Email and your Password.
- Tap Sign in →.
- 1: Signing in as Student
- 2: Your email
- 3: Your password
- 4: Tap Sign in
If it doesn't work
- "That didn't match." Check your email and password, then tap Try again →. Look out for capital letters.
- Forgot your password? After a wrong try, a Reset password link appears under the password box. It opens an email to the TutorCat team, who will help you. Ask a grown-up to help with this.
- "Too many tries." Wait a minute, then try again.
Sign out
Sign out when you finish, especially on a shared computer or tablet. There are three ways:
- On a computer: tap the sign-out button at the bottom of the left menu, next to your email.
- On a phone: tap Me at the bottom, then Sign out.
- Anywhere: open Settings. At the top, next to your email, tap Sign out.
- 1: Jump to a section
- 2: Sign out here
Light or dark
TutorCat has a light look and a dark look. Pick the one that is easier on your eyes.
The quick way: on Home, tap the round sun or moon button at the top right. It flips between light and dark.
In Settings:
- Open Settings and find Appearance.
- Tap Light, Dark, or Follow system. "Follow system" matches your device. If your device turns dark at night, so does TutorCat.
- 1: Light theme
- 2: Dark theme
- 3: Match your device
- 4: Less animation
Reduce motion
TutorCat has small celebrations, like confetti when you unlock an answer, and some things that float or bounce. If moving things bother you, turn them off:
- Open Settings, then Appearance.
- Turn on Reduce motion. It "turns off celebrations and floating animations".
If your device is already set to show less motion, this switch is on already and greyed out. TutorCat follows your device.
