Ask a parent to say yes
If you are under the consent age where you live, a parent or guardian says yes before you start. Here is how to ask, and what waiting looks like.
In many countries, the law says a parent or guardian must agree before a young person uses an app like TutorCat. The age is different in each country. TutorCat works it out from your birthday and where you live.
If this is you, TutorCat helps you ask a grown-up. It's not about trust. Every student your age does this. Once a parent says yes, you're in.
Step 3: Add a parent or guardian
- Type your parent's or guardian's email into Parent or guardian's email.
- Under Relationship, tap who they are: Mother, Father, Guardian or Other.
- Tap Send request.
- 1: Your parent's email
- 2: Who they are
- 3: Send the request
TutorCat emails them a link. They open it and say yes.
After you send the request, you see Request sent ✉️. Tap Continue to waiting screen →.
Step 4: Wait for a yes
The waiting screen says Waiting for a parent to say yes. It shows the email you asked, with the word "pending".
- You don't need to do anything else. You can close TutorCat and come back later.
- TutorCat checks for an answer by itself. To check right now, tap Check again.
- Typed the wrong email? Tap Edit request and send a new one.
- 1: Who you asked
- 2: Check for a yes
- 3: Wrong email? Fix it
You're in!
When a parent says yes, you see You're in and "A parent said yes. Your first question is waiting." Tap Ask my first question → to start. If you don't tap it, TutorCat moves you on by itself after a few seconds.

If you are under the consent age
Here is what is different for you:
- A parent must say yes first. Until then, you only see the set-up screens.
- The microphone may be turned off. Voice questions are often off for younger students. You can always type or snap a photo instead.
- Deleting your account is your parent's job. If you try, TutorCat tells you to ask them. See "Delete your account".
- If a parent changes their mind and takes back their yes, you go back to the set-up screens. If another parent has also said yes, you can keep going.
