Parents

Your parent home

Pick a child, then see their learning activity, today's screen time and mood, and everything else at a glance.

On this page
  1. Choose a child
  2. Learning activity
  3. On your phone
  4. In dark mode
  5. Further down the page
  6. Safety notes come first

Your parent home is the first page you see after signing in. It shows one child at a time. Everything on it is read-only: you change settings in Settings.

On a computer, Home, Settings and Feedback sit in the sidebar on the left. On a phone, Home and Settings are in the bar at the bottom, and Me holds Feedback and Sign out.

Choose a child

If you have more than one child linked, their names appear as chips at the top right of the page, each with their grade.

  1. Choose a child's name to see their page.
  2. On a keyboard, you can also use the arrow keys to move between children.

  1. 1: Choose a child
  2. 2: Pick 7, 30 or 90 days
  3. 3: Today and this week
  4. 4: Mood this week

When you switch, every card on the page reloads for that child.

Learning activity

On a computer, the Learning activity card shows how many tutoring sessions your child has finished, as a bar chart.

  • Use 7d, 30d or 90d to change the time range. The chart always has seven bars. With 30 days, each bar covers about four or five days.
  • The two most recent bars are highlighted.
  • Taller bars mean more sessions. Screen readers read out each bar's dates and number of sessions.

Under the chart, three numbers sum up:

  • Sessions today
  • This week: Monday to today
  • Screen time today, and your daily limit if you've set one

If your child hasn't finished a session yet, the chart stays empty and says so. It fills in as sessions happen.

On your phone

On a phone, the page opens on the child chips, swiped sideways if you have several children. Instead of the activity chart you get:

  • Today: minutes of learning today, and "of 90 limit" (or "no limit set").
  • Mood: the face from your child's latest check-in, and their note if they wrote one. If they haven't checked in yet, it says No check-in yet.
  • This week: Monday to Sunday as small bars, with today highlighted.

Then come the same cards as on a computer, one under another.

Safety notes come first

If TutorCat has a serious safety concern about one of your children, a Safety note appears at the very top of your home page, above everything else. See Safety alerts for what it means and what to do.
