When your learning time is up

What you see when a parent sets a daily limit or quiet hours, and how to still get help.

A parent can set a daily limit for TutorCat. They can also set quiet hours, like bedtime, when new questions wait until morning. Here is what that looks like for you.

When time is nearly up

When you have 5 minutes or less left, a note appears at the top of the Studio. It says how many minutes are left today.

  • If new questions will stop at the limit, it says "Finish this step, the answer will wait for tomorrow."
  • If your parent chose a warning only, it says you can keep going, and that it's a good moment to wrap up.

Tap Dismiss (the ×) to hide the note.

The "4 minutes left today" note at the top of the Studio
  1. 1: Time is nearly up
  2. 2: Hide this note

When time is up

If your parent chose to stop new questions, you see That's it for today. It tells you why:

  • "You've used your" minutes for today, or
  • "It's quiet hours now."

You also see how many minutes you learned today, your day streak, and when you can come back.

The "That's it for today" screen with the help button
  1. 1: See your work
  2. 2: Help is always here

You can still:

  • Tap Look at my portfolio. Looking at your portfolio doesn't count against the limit.
  • Read your old chats.
  • Tap Need to talk to someone? This always works. See below.

Help is never switched off

Want more time?

The limit is your parent's choice. If you think it's too short, or the quiet hours don't fit your homework, talk to them about it. You can see today's time and the limit on the Vitals page too.
