Joining the beta takes a few minutes. You need your family's invite code, which arrives in your welcome email from beta@tutorcat.ai.

1. Enter your invite code

Go to tutorcat.ai/login and tap Create an account (next to "New here?"). From the home page at tutorcat.ai, Join the beta and then Sign up with your invite code take you to the same place. Because the beta is invite-only, TutorCat first asks for your code.

The invite step on a phone: "You'll need an invite code", the code box, Check code, and Join the waitlist
  1. 1: Code from your email
  2. 2: Check it
  3. 3: No code yet?

Type the code from your email into Invite code and tap Check code. One code covers a whole family.

2. Create your account

Choose who you are, Student or Parent, and fill in the form.

The create-account form with Parent chosen: name, email, country, password, and the agreement to the Terms and Privacy policy
  1. 1: Choose Parent
  2. 2: Country sets consent age
  3. 3: Read the terms and privacy
  4. 4: Create your account
  • Parents give their name, email, country and a password. Parents don't need a date of birth.
  • Students give a display name, date of birth, email, country, grade level and a password.
  • Country matters: it decides the consent age. It can be set once, so please choose carefully.
  • Passwords need at least 8 characters.
  • Tick I agree to the Terms and have read the Privacy policy (both open right there to read), then tap Create account →.

There is no way for a parent to create a child's account. Your child signs up as a Student, on their own device or yours, using your family's invite code. Then they follow a short setup:

  1. Profile: they check their name and grade.
  2. Curriculum: Standard, O-Level / IGCSE, A-Level or IB.
  3. Parent: if they are below the consent age in your country, they enter your email and your relationship (mother, father, guardian or other), then tap Send request.
  4. Waiting: they wait for you to say yes. The screen keeps checking for your answer, and they can tap Check again.

Children at or above the consent age can start straight away. They can still invite you later from Settings → Parents → Add a parent, so you can see their sessions.

You receive an email from TutorCat with a link. Open it and sign in to your parent account. You will see a consent request that explains what you can do and what TutorCat collects.

The consent request: "Sam Okafor wants to use TutorCat", what you can do, what is collected and why, the agreement checkbox, and Grant consent
  1. 1: What you can do
  2. 2: What is collected
  3. 3: Your agreement
  4. 4: Say yes

Read the summary (and the full children's privacy notice, if you like), tick the box confirming you are the child's parent or legal guardian, and tap Grant consent →. Your child can start right away. You can also tap Not now and decide later.

If a second parent or guardian also wants to see your child's sessions, your child can send them a request too. Each parent's consent is separate.

5. Ask the first question

Your child opens Learning, picks a subject and asks. From there, see How a tutoring session works.

As a parent, your home page fills up as your child learns: activity, summaries, wellbeing and screen time. A good first step is to set a screen-time limit in Settings.
